Are piano Recitals necessary? Here is what PianoDrumsGuitar has to say: Our experience is that not all students (or parents) want recitals. Isn't this is understandable if we think about people who might seem reserved, shy or afraid of any possible pressures and stresses that may accompany a recital. Maybe you can actually relate. We have had several students (and their parents) ask about recitals. They have chosen our studio because we do not require them. Recitals are optional for PDG students. But not every student and parent think this way. Most don't. Most parents and students are very welcoming to the idea of piano, drum, guitar, and vocal recitals. Why is this? Parents want their children to to succeed. They want to give their students opportunities for growth and challenge in order to better prepare them for life. Good parents want their children to be prepared and better equipped for what life's many opportunities. The Goal of Piano, Drum, Guitar music recitalsRecitals DO NOT have to be stuffy and stressful. Most PianoDrumsGuitar (PDG) recitals are not stuffy and stressful. They are relaxed and informal. They are a learning experience for all who participate and attend. We get a lot of positive feedback about our recitals. The goal of the music recital is simple: Piano (and drum, guitar, and vocal) recitals give students an opportunity to better themselves. If students want to be better on their instrument, recitals are a definite part of that journey. In other words, we believe the ultimate goal for a recital is the experience and growth of the student. The recital is a tool to leverage growth in the student. The growth happens because the recital student has incentives to practice and prepare. Recital students want to do a good job for themselves, their teachers and instructors, parents and grandparents, guardians, and friends.
